⚠️ Problem Summary
Some Android users can have newly introduced issues when their Android version on their device gets upgrade (sometimes automatically)
These issue often relate to Android System WebView, a core component that Opmetrix relies on to function properly.
🔍 What Is Android System WebView?
Android System WebView is a system component powered by Chrome that allows Android apps to display web content. Many modern apps, including Opmetrix, use it behind the scenes for screens, forms, syncing, and offline data storage.
✅ Temporary Workaround
To resolve this issue, you can revert Android System WebView to an earlier version using the official WebView Dev app on the Google Play Store. This will restore compatibility while we work on a long-term fix in an upcoming Opmetrix release.
🛠️ Steps to Revert WebView
1. Download Android System WebView Dev
Open the Google Play Store on your Android device.
Search for “Android System WebView Dev” or click this link.
Install the WebView Dev app.
2. Select an Older Version
Open the WebView Dev app.
Tap the three-dot menu and select “Manage Versions” or “Version History” (depending on your device).
Choose a version earlier (typically just one version earlier is recommended)
3. Restart Your Device
Once you've downgraded WebView, restart your Android device to apply changes.
4. Reinstall Opmetrix
Uninstall and reinstall the Opmetrix app from the Play Store.
This ensures clean reinitialization and proper link-up with the downgraded WebView.
5. Disable Auto-Updates for WebView
To prevent the issue from reoccurring:
Open Play Store > Android System WebView Dev.
Tap the three-dot menu.
Disable auto-update.
📌 Important Notes
This is a temporary workaround while we finalise a more robust fix in an upcoming app release.
