Set/Maintain Geocodes

To set or maintain geocodes, click on the Transactions menu then click Geocode Maintenance from the submenu under Maintenance and a screen similar to below will display.

Note that the list of customer stores (outlets) is the list that's imported from the Master Data that feeds your system. This master data may be sourced from an accounting system, ERP system, or the CSV file in your Opmetrix Master File Manager.

Note also that any changes to customer name and/or address must be made in the Master Data.

Click on the Pencil icon (Edit) in the second to far right hand column next to the name of the outlet and a screen similar to below will display.

The address from the Master Data will be shown or you can manually enter an address. Click Find on Map to obtain Latitude/Longitude co-ordinates then click Save and the GPS co-ordinates will be set.

In case the customer changes their address and you want to change their map location, enter the new address, click Find on Map and the new co-ordinates will be shown. Click Save to set these new co-ordinates.

Sometimes there may be no location or a completely wrong location (e.g. wrong country or hemisphere), in which case repeat the above procedure.

Note that this procedure only changes the outlet's GPS map co-ordinates; we repeat that any change to an address itself must be made at source in the Master Data.

You may therefore be confused to look at this screen after changing a location; the original address as obtained from Master Data will still display but you can be well assured that the latitude and longitude co-ordinates have changed according to your new settings.

Tips when entering addresses:

  • Don’t use ‘corner of’ (e.g. cnr High and Smith)

  • Don’t include flat or unit numbers (e.g. Unit 2)

  • Don’t include level (e.g. level 2)

  • Do use a region, state or country

  • Use a single number (e.g. 11 Smith St, not 11-22 Smith St)
