There are many tablet devices available; however, for business use it is important to have a tablet that runs fast, with adequate memory and a good screen that can be seen in bright sunlight.
Tablets should also be robust and be able to withstand the knocks and drops that will inevitably happen while in use in the field.
Key considerations
- Tablets should support WiFi + Cellular (have there own SIM card)
- We don't recommend "hot-spotting" a tablet to a phone for connectivity
- Tablets need a GPS chip if location/visibility reporting required
- Tablet platform - Apple, Android or Windows
Apple - Minimum Operating Systems
For Apple Opmetrix supports Apple iPads running a minimum of iOS10. The following minimum specification is suggested
- Apple iPad (Mini, Air or Pro)
- iOS10 (or higher) - iOS13 is current release
- 32 Gb Storage
- Wifi + Cellular connectivity
- GPS (available if iPad has cellular connectivity)
Android - Minimum Operating Systems
Android has many brands and devices available. We recommend running with a reputable brand such as Samsung suited for business purpose
- Android tablet with a minimum of an 8" display
- Android version 5 or higher - current is version 10
- 16 Gb storage
- Wifi + Cellular connectivity
Windows - Minimum Operating Systems
The Windows surface Pro is the most popular model however brands like HP and Dell are also available.
